Pia Chair

Poul Cadovius 1959

Designed by the eminent Danish designer Poul Cadovius in 1959, the Pia chair is an exercise in less is more.

Wanting to create a chair inspired by other designer chairs of the 50s while reducing the physical and visual weight, the Pia chair focuses on using as little material as possible, while maintaining detail and comfort. A modern formed plywood back gives depth and comfort, while the handcrafted paper cord seat returns to tradition. The thin, conical-shaped solid wooden legs give a light visual expression, which is further emphasised by two fine details; the hand-sanded rounding at the top of the back legs, and the finger joined front legs. The Pia represents a dynamic and enduring seating design with a distinct personality.

Focusing on personality, pride and sustainability, dk3’s shared values and longtime relationship with Great Dane allows us to bring its high-quality, crafted wooden furniture into homes across Australia.
