Erik Hansen (1916-1982) worked as the chief engineer at Le Klint. He is best known for designing the classic Sax Lamp.
In 1952, Erik Hansen designed the first Sax (scissor) lamp for Le Klint—a piece that would go on to become an enduring icon of Danish lighting design. For many, the combination of its clean, classic lines, pleated paper shade, and natural wood frame is instantly recognizable as the essence of Le Klint.
Over time, the Sax lamp has evolved, with variations including both uplighter and downlighter models crafted from a range of wood types. Today, it is available in light oak, black oak, and smoked oak finishes. Though often imitated, there is only one original Sax lamp—an authentic Le Klint classic.
