Tangent Table Round

Anne Boysen 2025

The Tangent Table Round was created for dk3 by Danish architect and designer Anne Boysen.

Inspired by organic forms and sculptural geometry, Anne Boysen has designed a contemporary dining table that balances beauty and function in perfect harmony. The Tangent Round Table was born from her vision of creating a piece where everyone seated can share equally in the gathering. Unlike other round tables with extension leaves that can create distance, the Tangent Round Table is crafted to encourage closeness, conversation and connection.

“My goal is to merge aesthetics and functionality with the sensory qualities of materials.”

The shape of the solid wood tabletop is based on six tangential arcs that melt smoothly together, creating a sculptural, asymmetrical entity. It features an elegantly curved edge that gives the piece a light, almost floating quality. The base is made of two contrasting elements. A gently curved disc and a sturdy volume. Both crafted from solid wood and softly rounded at the foot. Together, they form a visual tension that shifts character depending on the viewer’s angle – just like a sculpture.

The Tangent Table Round is extendable with up to two extension leaves. When extended, the table changes character and grows in function, without losing its light and harmonious feeling. The extension system is integrated into the design with an apron that conceals the fittings and completes the table’s flowing lines.

craftmanship

The love for organic material and uncompromising focus on quality is evident throughout the entire process, from the first design sketches to the manufacturing in the carpentries, where most pieces are finished and surface treated by hand.
