String® System Hanger Racks

Kajsa & Nisse Strinning 1949

The hanger racks are created to optimize a shelving combination with metal or galvanized shelves.

It is the optimal kitchen accessory, and it is available in two different sizes, 200 and 300 mm. Number of wine glasses (diameter of the rim: 70 mm) that fit on 200 mm deep hanger racks are 2-3, and 3-4 on 300 mm deep hanger racks. A 580 mm wide metal shelf can fit up to three hanger racks and a 780 mm wide can fit up to four. Each packaging contains two hanger racks, where each hanger rack has two sets of rails.

Kajsa & Nisse Strinning

Nils “Nisse” Strinning (1917 – 2006) was a Swedish architect and designer whose clean and practical designs have come to form the basis of what is now known as “Scandinavian design”. Nisse Strinning was best known for the String shelving system that he and his wife, the designer Kajsa Strinning, designed in response to a 1949 contest held by Bonnier public library.



The String design has received more than 15 prestigious international awards including a gold medal at the Milan Triennale (1954), The Classic Prize and Excellent Swedish Design (1999), German Design Award (2016), “Furniture Supplier of the Year” and Winner Long Life Design Award (2020) to name a few. String® was also honoured with a stamp by the Swedish Postal Service (2017).
