The son of architect P.V. Jensen-Klint, Tage Klint played a defining role in transforming the Klint family’s tradition of pleating into the foundations of Le Klint as a commercial design company.
In 1943, Tage established the business around the family’s distinctive lampshades, helping bring their handcrafted designs to a wider audience. He also developed the characteristic collar that became an integral part of the original Klint lampshades.
Using the natural elasticity of the pleated material, his ingenious solution allowed the shades to fit securely onto a lamp stand without compromising their distinctive form. A designer and entrepreneur with a practical mind, Tage Klint went on to design a number of lamps himself, several of which remain part of the Le Klint collection today.
