Vieno Vase

Vieno (meaning ‘gentle’ in Finnish) pays homage to craft, individuality, innovation and the ecological use of resources.

The Vieno Vase combines two contrasting textures; delicate shiny glass and strong matt wood, which oppose yet accentuate one another. A collaboration between master cabinet maker Antrei Hartikainen and glass specialist Katriina Nuutinen, Vieno brings the essence of two soulful natural materials to the fore, crowned by a hand-carved lime wood cap designed by Antrei Hartikainen. The bark-like feel of the skilfully crafted cap creates an alluring contrast to the smoothness of the glass, like a tree growing from water, light yet strong. Katriina Nuutinen’s carefully selected glass shades echo the gentle colours of flowers and the cooling colour palette of a Finnish early autumn landscape. Each vase is unique, and part of a limited edition run of 12 and has been numbered, dated and signed by both artists.
